Local 812 and our members give back wholeheartedly to the communities where we live and work. It's the union way. We are loyal and enthusiastic supporters of numerous charities that cure the sick, assist veterans, first responders and their families, help those with mental and physical disabilities and make a better future for our kids.

Below are a few of the charities that Local 812 actively supports. Click on the name of each organization to learn more about the important work they provide in our community.

Miles for Matt
The mission of the Miles for Matt Foundation is to support the educational journey of students, their development through sports activities and recreational safety in public venues. Miles for Matt was founded in the memory of Matthew Scarpati (19), who was killed by an adult driving under the influence. The Foundation advances its mission primarily through work in education, athletics and medical research and strives to continue the interests and goals that Matt held.

Tunnel to Tower
The Foundation honors the legacy of Stephen Siller, FDNY, who laid down his life on 9/11. Tunnel to Tower has established "In the Line of Duty" programs for Firefighters, First Responders, and Military and "Legacy of Love" programs to make a lasting and positive difference in the lives of children who have lost one or both parents.

St Francis DeSales School for the Deaf
Established in 1960 with four students in a Flushing convent, in 1965 St. Francis became a private state supported 4201 School, one of eleven schools serving deaf and blind students in New York State. In 1973, St. Francis moved to its present location on Eastern Parkway where it continues to educate profoundly deaf children from infancy to eighth grade. St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf is dedicated to encouraging the maximum potential for learning in each child regardless of race, creed, color or gender. This education embraces the whole child-psychological, physical, social and emotional.
