    The Local 812 Scholarship Fund Golf Outing will be held at the Woodside Club in Syosset, NY. golftournament

    Procedes go to our union scholarships. The event begins at 9:00 a.m., followed by a cocktail reception & dinner at 4:30 pm.

  • ACG, Bett-a-Way Members Ratify 5-Year Contracts

    cba graphBy overwhelming margins, Local 812 members working at American Compressed Gases and Bett-a-Way Trucking have approved new contract agreements. 

    The union negotiation committees won annual raises, increased paid leave and retro-active pay. 

    There are no give backs. Both deals preserve union health benefits and all members will now participate in the Local 812 Annuity/401(K) retirement fund.

  • Trustee Pooler Retires

    pooler 2019After more than four decades working as a Teamster in the beverage industry, Local 812 Trustee and Business Agent Mark Pooler retired at the end of June. A strong worker advocate, Mark was first elected shop steward in 2000.

    Mark will long be remembered for his leadership during the Clare Rose strike. Local 812 is grateful for all that Pooler has done to build our union and we wish him a very happy and long retirement.

  • DMV: How to renew a CDL

    NY DMV sealIMPORTANT: DMV is now sending renewal notices to CDL clients, that give specific instructions on how to renew by mail.

    DMV encourages CDL clients to renew using these renewal notices, and to follow the enclosed instructions. Most CDL clients can now renew by mail but there are exceptions where a client will be instructed to make a reservation to visit a DMV office.

A nombre de la Junta Ejecutiva del Sindicato Local 812, quiero agradecerles que nos hayan elegido para conducirlos a ustedes y a nuestra gran unión sindical para avanzar a lo largo de los próximos tres años. Humildemente nos honra su fe y su confianza en nuestra capacidad para enfrentar a los patrones, para proteger los logros por los cuales lucharon y que ganaron quienes estuvieron antes que nosotros, y para hacer que otros más reciban los beneficios de la afiliación sindical.

Su nueva Junta Ejecutiva está trabajando unida por una causa: para fortalecer más a esta organización sindical para que ustedes, sus compañeros del trabajo y sus familias puedan cosechar los frutos del trabajo que ustedes hacen.

Somos un solo equipo trabajando por una sola meta. Nuestra capacidad de aprovechar al máximo lo que tenemos depende de que nuestros afiliados estén unidos como uno solo: ¡la unidad del 812 es el poder del 812!

Es por ello que la Junta Ejecutiva ha negociado exitosamente los mejores contratos que hayamos tenido nunca con Coke, Pepsi y Clare Rose: contratos que bien valen más 1.5 mil millones de dólares en salarios y planes de cobertura de seguros para nuestros afiliados. A medida que otros contratos cumplan la fecha para su renegociación ampliaremos estas conquistas laborales con otros empleadores.

No solamente están recibiendo nuestros miembros aumentos salariales —algo que se les niega a la mayoría de los trabajadores en estos días—, sino que han quedado garantizadas coberturas médicas sin ningún seguro conjunto para el futuro que se pueda prever y se han protegido las pensiones.

Podemos lograr esto porque tenemos una membresía unificada que nos respalda.

Asimismo, estamos haciendo crecer al sindicato al afiliar a nuevos miembros. Si hay ahí afuera trabajo en refrescos y cervezas, nosotros lo queremos. Para incorporarlo, necesitamos que ustedes participen. Es por esta razón que estamos creando un ejército de miembros organizadores voluntarios. Los animo a que se conviertan en uno de ellos.

Juntos, lograremos la diferencia.
